City of Bryan Earns National Savvy Award for Best Overall Website
Bryan, Texas – The City of Bryan has been recognized with a Savvy Award for Best Overall Website (Population 0–100,000), a national honor recognizing excellence in local government communications and digital engagement.
Presented by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA), the Savvy Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in public-sector communications. Bryan's website redesign was selected as the winner in its category for delivering a modern, intuitive, and resident-focused online experience.
In their evaluation, judges praised the project for clearly communicating its goals and demonstrating measurable success through detailed documentation, visual before-and-after comparisons, and specific examples of improvements made throughout the redesign process.
Particular recognition was given to the website's intuitive navigation and user-first structure. Judges highlighted the "How Do I" section, which uses action-oriented language to help residents quickly find information and complete common tasks.
The panel also applauded the City's approach to organizing a robust community events calendar. By separating events and meetings and creating a dedicated calendar for the library, the website provides a clearer, more streamlined experience for users.
"The result of the redesign is an organized, user-focused experience and is supported by a strong presentation of success," the judges noted. "Great job to all involved in this entry."
A key driver behind the redesign was Taylor George, Web Communications Specialist for the City of Bryan. Beginning in 2024, Taylor spearheaded the effort to modernize the City's digital presence, leading the transition from a self-hosted platform to Govstack. As the primary champion of the initiative within the organization, she worked across departments to build city-wide support and align stakeholders around a shared vision for a more effective and resident-focused website.
Drawing on her design experience, Taylor leveraged Govstack's flexible editing capabilities to create a website that reflects the unique character and culture of the City of Bryan while improving usability, accessibility, and navigation for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
The award-winning website was designed to make it easier for residents, businesses, and visitors to access information, connect with city services, and engage with the community.
Key improvements include:
- Simplified navigation focused on common user needs
- An action-oriented "How Do I" section that improves findability
- Enhanced organization of city meetings, events, and community activities
- A dedicated library calendar for easier access to programming and resources
- A modern, mobile-friendly user experience designed around accessibility and usability best practices
It has been a privilege to work alongside the City of Bryan throughout this initiative. Their dedication to creating a better digital experience for residents is evident throughout the award-winning redesign.
The recognition underscores the City of Bryan's commitment to providing exceptional digital services and creating a more accessible online experience for the community it serves.
