Sandbox

The Sandbox node is a directory that is completely hidden from your public website, where members of you team can build experimental pages, practice, or create template content. Material within the sandbox cannot be found or indexed by search engines and it does not appear anywhere in your public site structure.

Providing or creating links on the website to pages contained in the sandbox folder will make this content visible to external parties.

Note that workflows will apply to sandbox content if the home node of a website has trickle down approvals active.

Each home node in a content tree can have it's own sandbox folder. A home node cannot have more than one sandbox folder, nor can a sandbox folder be created anywhere other than a home node.

Create a sandbox folder

Most websites will come with the sandbox folder already set up, but if it's missing on your site follow these steps to add it:

  1. Right click your website's home node and select 'Create' from the action menu
  2. Select 'Sandbox folder' from the create dialogue. Each home node can only have one sandbox folder so if the option is unavailable check your site structure. Sandbox folders can have different names, so look for the orange beaker icon to see if one already exists
  3. Enter the name of your sandbox folder in the 'Enter a name...' field. For clarity we recommend using 'Sandbox'
  4. Save and Publish your folder to complete the process

You can now create nodes in your sandbox folder as you can under any other webpage node.
